The chemical spill in the Elk River in January 2014 resulted in legislation requiring source water monitoring for water systems. PUB is working to install monitoring wells upstream of the system’s drinking water supply wells. The monitoring wells will allow samples to be drawn for analysis to provide an early warning if a contaminant of concern to consumer health is found in notable concentrations.
